Having been retired since 2007 I can say I can thoroughly recommend not working. I can somewhat understand why there is a Benefits Culture in UK. If someone will pay you to not work then why not (dignity and sense of accomplishment, spring to mind!), but unfortunately I had to work hatd for 30 years to make enough money to afford to retire.

Eric, the main thing is that you and Jan have enough good health and money to have those relaxing holidays and home projects to fill your time.
