The D7100 is 24MP on DX and works very well from results I have seen.
Rumour mill says D7200 is to be announced next week at CES in January 2015.
The D7200 is to be like the D750 but DX.
I havent seen any results from the D7100, but you may be right.
I suppose if the conventional wisdom of larger pixels are better is correct, the IQ of the D7100 should suffer more from camera shake than its predecessor the D7000 at only 16mp.
It will be interesting to see if the D7200 will be the D400 in all but name? Nikon may be steadfastly sticking to x000 numbering for DX and consigning x00 to FX from now on.
