 The touch screen is there because of the equivalent Canon model having it and it is something that new amateurs want as it is like their phone!
For me it is a wasted gimmick.

It is good as this means the D5300 will become much cheaper. I fancy one but I cant useit with my older lenses so in that way a D7100 is better.
So maybe a D7100 or D5300 as my DX camera as replacement for the D300.
