not done that much for a week or so due to bad weather ,but it did give me time to quietly sit back and analyze what i had been taking and to appraise various aspects ,first off i found that atmospherics played a large part in distortion at full range with the 70d especially over reflective surfaces i.e still water ,roads ,grass lands etc ,possibly due to the finer sensor to .
with the 1D3 and its older 10mp sensor i was noticing that close shots were superb but over distance and with cropping detail was being lost even when stopped down .
i threw these things around in my head for a week and came to the conclusion that the lens needed more fine tuning ,not just along the lines of M/A but the lens itself ,so yesterday i put in with the USB dock some new settings enabling different focal lengths of focus ,a finer degree of focus on the chosen point/s ,and a what sigma refer to as dynamic image stabiliser ,took it out today and to be honest the results were really good and although i might try tweaking more its definitely helped .the next one to test will be the 20mp 70d .
