I think that the Tamron Adaptall system was great but I guess with modern AF this wont work well as AF tolerances are pretty small.
Hence the need for micro-adjustment feature even in factory made lenses.
Remember when autofocus first came out - it was promoted as an aid for vision impared photographers.
