It is a difficult choice between D5300 and D7000.
The D7200 is the latest model and there is also D7100 which are both 24MP compared with the 16MP D7000. Whilst pixels arent everything those extra pixel at 24MP give you better ability to crop if necessary.
The battery on the D7x00 series cameras is better than the D5300. However the D5300 has GPS and WiFi connectivity - if you need it.
If you are choosing between D5300 and D7000 only I would probably go for the D5300 as it is a newer model with all the improved electronics so the image may be a little better at higher ISOs. Best of all would be a D7100 or D7200.
