Having now discovered you are in India I would change my recommendation to the D7000....better still the D7100...or D7200 if your budget will stretch that far.

This is because the D7000/7100/7200 are weather sealed...so will prevent dust ingress better than the D5300... which isn't weather sealed as well.

Another benefit of the D7xxx cameras, apart from size in the hand, is that their controls are all accessible. I have heard that with the D5300 it's necessary to hunt through the menus to change some settings, which can be less than ideal.

I've used the 18-105 lens on a D7000 and it's an excellent combination.
I never tried the 18-140 but did try the 18-200 and found that it was a bit soft at 200mm. Other people have said their 18-200 was ok...others said that it was soft at 18mm !!
All this suggests that the longer the zoom range, the greater the risk of some quality issues creeping in. As JK says, keeping the ratio low is better...but personally I found no fault with the 6x range of the 18-105.
