The sad fact is, you get what you pay for. Graham's £6000 500mm is testament to that.
The problem is that unless you have lots of cash to invest in top quality glass and a regular need for heavy long lenses to justify the expenditure, you will always be faced with less than perfect lenses....whose images will need assistance in post processing.
It's always going to be a question of ..."is the lens good enough for me?"
Buying from somewhere that will accept returns is paramount.
