The rumour mill has it that in 2017 we see the D700 or D750 replacement which will be a baby D5 or a FX version of the D500. I think this will be my last Nikon. I just need to thin down by Nikon kit.

Not if you want it for birding? The extra reach with the crop sensor is an advantage with small subjects. The other thing with DX the focus sensors cover most of the screen, with FX the sensors remain the same size but the extra area is added to the surroundings, if that makes sense? In other words with FX the sensors are grouped effectively more tightly to the central area in relation to the frame area.
