Why ?
Because using the triple filters required for colour is not optimal for monochrome.
This sensor is designed specifically for monochrome, the output should be superb, provided all you want is monochrome and you are prepared to sink that sort of money into a specialised body.
I do know of people who have taken new D3's and converted them to IR so it's not that different?
