Thanks for the warm welcome.
The D500 is a done deal as soon as the cash arrives from the sale of the motorcycle.
Now I am considering what lenses to buy I won't have enough for Nikon so am looking the Tamron 70-200 2/8 G2, The 150-600 G2 is tempting but I don't know how much I would use it do to the fine weather we have here in WASH-ing-ton.
I have been using a 70-300 VR G for my aircraft photos and it was fine but has been sold. I am leaning toward the 70-200 as it will probably be more useful in the long run.
Where would the fun be if there were not so many cool items to choose
from.

Does it have to be a zoom?
The Nikon 300mm f4 is a good lens. It will take a 1.4x teleconverter to give effective 650mm on the D500....with minimal loss of contrast, for wildlife.
