Have been studying the OS online maps, seems to be about the same size as Windermere, with a bend and a bigger dam. No doubt I will find somewhere quiet. Arrived at east barsham in fog! Sat with the astological society members for a mind numbing eternity, drinking weak coffee and being thoroughly bored [what anoraks!!). Drove home and fog lifted as we approached KL. watched the end of the eclipse clearly in the back garden. Perhaps we should proclaim Field Towers a designated dark sky area with better weather! A visit to the Canary Islands might be a better guarantee of good cloud free skies? My friend Len goes there most years for a couple of weeks in winter, cheap as chips he reckons. Can you take bikes and large heavy tripods on aeroplanes... Maybe not.
