OK, I bit the bullet, I have split the Nikon EN-EL4 battery. I have also disassembled one of my D1 EN-4 battery packs which I upgraded to Samsung 18650 cells.

I am starting a new thread...

I am still keen to obtain dead EN-EL4 batteries...
