D2x Can be modded but still check out the response... It's not a common choice. Apparently the D7000 is OK especially good because of the live view, which brings the D3100 into the arena?
$300 sounds a good deal to provide and fit the IR filter, have you tried the other company who do it? I just can't remember their name, will come back on that. Remember to do it right involves calibrating the AF, which will be included.
