Electronic shutters have their own issues, like restricting AF and EV ranges. Then there is composition, rank stupidity and fine tuning, choosing the ideal camera position frequently isn't an option. Probably the biggest factor, apart from the quality of the light is the direction of the light. I have to say I think the camera can help too, since the D3, I feel I am getting more keepers and better results, I always felt restricted with DX and still do now when I use the D300S or the D200IR even though the pixel count/file size is very similar.
