I haven't seen anything in Mojave that would make me upgrade to get it. (I have several MacBooks).

Yes, unfortunately they have their set ideas on what software can run on any given hardware. They do support their hardware for quite a long time, I had a free of charge repair on my MacBook Pro at 5 years old and even now, at 7 it has only just reached the OS limit at High Sierra. I haven't seen anything in Mojave that would make me upgrade to get it. (I have several MacBooks).
