I am told the AMD card has a different workaround for this.

My understanding is the AMD card does NOT require a driver, The Nvidia Gforce requires a driver to launch the startup screen but that doesn't prevent system booting. It puts the startup screen into firmware so it displays the SU screen at boot, before the OS has launched. I am told the AMD card has a different workaround for this.
