Good advice jk but well out of pension price range ,at this moment in time .. will keep mulling it over , I think Nikon's idea of ever changing new models is coming back to bite the used market on the bum .. I will keep looking till the right deal comes up ..
I resisted the change from D3 to D4 and D5 as I saw no benefits.
I stayed with my D300 until the D500 came.
I bought Fuji mirrorless and prefer that for APS-C but the XT3 is still not as good as D500 for Birds In Flight.
