 Reading on the Nikon site about various things and came across the firmware upgrades - my D90 was still on Version 1.00 for everything - so I downloaded the upgrade files and updated the camera and lens files.

I am quite pleased with the results - the camera auto-focuses MUCH faster, almost an instant lock.
