All we need now is for Microsoft to put up the subscription for Office 365.
This subscription pricing for software is a real money spinner for the manufacturers, instead of you buying once you effectively buy every year.
This is my problem with the subscription model.
It is not in reality a realistic way of valuing software. If you use software occasionally it encourages people to not purchase but to use free software that is less good (stifles innovation and small companies) or worse the pirating of the software.
Adobe originally said that they expected that the subscription model would reduce software pricing and also stop pirating. Neither of these have been achieved. Therefore I purchase my new software from PhaseOne CaptureOne Pro and Serif Affinity Photo.
