Is there any reason why the 'quick reply' form can't have unlimited time?
Yes - the time out is linked to the whole page, not the reply form, so I can head the whole page of the full reply form without the timed redirect to the splash screen but if I did that to the view thread pages you lose the "screen saver" splash screen.
Up to the users to decide which they prefer, shall we have a referendum?
I haven't seen the green arrow anomaly - I'll keep an eye out for it. Just one thought, it maybe a timing issue - try refreshing the recent topics page before opening any threads.
