Around 100,000 Knot (plus other waders) come off the sea to sit out high tide in the adjacent gravel pits. There were nearly that number of photographers there as well. The heavy rain had flooded some of the islands and the northerly winds had held in the tide for 24 hours causing almost tidal flooding conditions. Graham and I braved the elements for a reccie the day before but with today's forecast for sunshine we hoped we could get a seat in the hide .....no such luck. So all photos handheld in staring winds. :'(
