Simple Eric, for me it is too small otherwise. I really, really don't like having my little finger hanging off the bottom and that is what happens without a grip, sorry but that is the way it is.
Neither do I (it's my pet hate!) and that didn't happen with the D750....it was quite tall and a deep recess. Felt really stable in my hand....just a little outbalanced with a heavy telephotos. This is why I wonder if they retained the D750 body on the D780?
