That needs to be tempered by considering the Megga large files together with the additional processing and storage costs. My iMac grinds to a standstill with the D800 files, let alone D850 files.  I still haven't revived my Mac Pro, which doesn't even blink with these very large files, the iMac is a reasonable spec 14.2 Last year I almost filled a 500Gb SSD with D800 files and I did very little photography after mid May, so at least a terabyte a year of modest photography.

To me that seems an infinitely more important consideration than what to do with my pinky.
