Easier to self-isolate then you can control your environment easier!
Boris may force us oldies to do that soon enough.
In fairness, because my wife has a compromised immune system, we have been doing that as much as possible already. I had to post a parcel today. I loitered outside the post office until the queue disappeared. I then dashed upto the counter with my face mask, balaclava and gloves. The post mistress nearly pooped herself and visibly breathed a sign when I flopped a parcel on the scale.
