According to "UK Butterflies" it is a Marbled White. There were other species but they rarely settled for long enough to photograph them.
Well it's lovely. An old friend of mine switched over his main photography interest to butterflies. He gets some excellent results. Not sure I've got the dedication....birds move around too much already!
