The D780 seems the better option with a live view silent mode at 12fps
I would tend to agree but there will be those who value the size, weight and silence of the Z5. Silent mode is a difficult thing to categorise, there is mechanical movement so there is always going to be some sound. If you reduce the amount of movement, such as by removing the mirror, there has to be less noise. The important question is whether the difference between an SLR in "silent" mode and a mirrorless in "silent" mode is of significance to the user. Not that I would buy a D780 as it doesn't take a grip*.
