 I would double read that Tom, I think that Apple mean iPhoto and Aperture share the same Library and there is no need to import to both. You can use iPhoto as a viewer and Aperture to adjust the same images.

The requirement to import the images is one of the major issues I see with Aperture. However, I haven't read the small print yet, that is only my impression from what I have read so far.

I recently spent 2 very long days extracting the images from a large iPhoto Library, because it wouldn't export them en masse between versions from one old iMac to a new one. I am not a lover of proprietary library formats!

The easiest way to import to Aperture would seem to be to drag a folder of images onto the Aperture icon.

At £55 it may be a little while before I download Aperture just to satisfy my curiosity. There no longer seems to be a 30 day free trial.
