They were always going to be sold down the river - too small in trade terms to worry about. I reckon the euro businesses are laughing all the way to the bank - they are still selling to the UK and getting the same prices but now they are able to get the VAT back on export ... while the UK customer has to pay the import VAT - this was NEVER about tariff free trade, customs tariffs are, and always have been a minor consideration.
