Old thread but the topic is relevant - I have been taking the opportuntiy of clear nights to try and capture some sky shots.
Here is one captured and edited on the Samsung S24 - way better than I can get with the Nikon!

That's probably because of the large Fstop of the mobile phones. The iPhone is far better at capturing Aurora (f1.2) than my Sony (f4 maximum) ....but useless at getting the moon due to low magnification.
