I also bought a 300mm pf lens which was nice coupled with t.c’s but I didn’t like the artefacts it produced over water , so while on holiday in Devon a couple of weeks ago I PX it for a Tamron 150-600g2 which is giving me acceptable results .. I still have my Olympus gear which does the same job but differently.
So that’s it back in the fold good to see familiar names still around but
I know exactly what you mean Jeff. I always felt the pf lens produced ‘fractal’ harsh bokeh and was one of the reasons I turned away from Nikon to Sony. That said, I have never felt that Sony have got it right with regard to sensor noise. Far too much colour noise in raw files.
I look back at some of my Nikon images and they seem much smoother and ‘calmer’ in a strange sort of way. Sigh.
I am now flirting with Fuji (again). They really seem to get the exposure right. I rarely need do anything with Photoshop.
