Having just returned to the Nikon fold and settled on a D500 I needed a lens to go with it , acquired a 300 pf for the weight and a 1.4 and 1.7 tc combo .. but I found I was getting weird artefacts over water ? Did my research and for my birding needs it narrowed the choice down to 3 lenses the nik 200-500, sig 150-600c or the Tamron 150-600 g2 .. While on a recent holiday in Devon I took advantage of being near to mifsuds to pop over and view all 3 lenses together and thanks to the owners generous PX offer settled on the Tamron ,which it turns out he had mistakenly priced up as a mki version. I did manage a few shots while away but nothing special so was a tad suspect on whether it was the right choice or even a good copy . But once home and able to check better I found it was front focussing a bit a couple of hours spent curing that has gotten me some superb images to date and I’m more than happy with this lens for the sub £500 cost Last edited on Fri Jul 4th, 2025 05:38 by |
