The sharpest mirrorless combo I have used is the Olympus om1 with a 300mm f4 which takes 1.4 and 2x tc’s with no ill effects and gives in FF terms a effective 600/840/1200mm reach I have lots of sample shots at all these lengths . You do lose the flexibility of the zoom though .and the best alternative is there big white lens which is upwards of 6K .
   My lad has just bought a canon R7 with a 200-800 rf lens and is really struggling to get decent results with it , there to my mind have been a lot of experimental bodies and lens combos produced by both canon and Nikon over the last few years to leapfrog into the mirrorless world  .. 
   A lot of problems I feel tends to be older owners not coping with complex menus either combined with weight issues as the user marketplace tends to be the older generation
