That's the story of Adobe... ACR is the hook that nails you to their costs.
A couple of things you might do to lower your cost... Join NAPP and get the Adobe discounts on everything (generally about 10-15 %). And / or search the web for the occasional discount code - though I have not seen any yet for CS6.
Finally, if you really only want ACR, switch to Adobe Elements and you will have ACR and then edit pix how ever you like.
My D800 hasn't arrived yet, so I've already born the pain and non of the pleasure of super res pix
