Many thanks to all. I will go for the Wacom One.

It should work straight out of the box but using the Wacom app (which also instals) you can configure the way the pen behaves (eg sensitivity, double taps/clicks) and configure the tablet for left or right handing and other things. Just a quirky point on handing….

I am right handed but I have the tablet configured left handed…so the usb cable is directed out of the way.

The biggest change from a mouse is you don’t ‘rev the mouse ball on the spot’ to move the cursor. I was showing a friend how to use a tablet and he couldn’t stop swiping the pen back and forth. It took him some time to just “point the pen when you want it to go”.

But at least if you can’t get on with a tablet…the Wacom one is not a big outlay!
