 I do not own a D3 or D4 camera.
I share your (love and hate) opinions about Nikon and mains-power.
I could not find a user manual for the EP-6 attachment.
In a pdf EH-6B manual there is mention of using it with a D3s camera, and pictures of the plugs (camera side) seem identical to the one in the EH-6A.pdf manual.

So: if you have an existing EH-6 (with no letters a/b etc) you may be in luck, any manual for the EP-6 connector should be conclusive.

In other respect there is confusion about Nikon's use of lettering for product versions, so the lettering on these adaptors may just indicate lesser variations.

I'd agree with Gilbert's assessment but I sure would hate to kill a D4 by using the wrong AC adapter.
I know of one person who killed his D1 trying to find a solution to the battery problem.
Fortunately my experiments were not so unfortunate and I managed to get a very nice battery from Sony that allowed me to take 5000+ pictures on one charge with the D1 series cameras (D1, D1h, and D1X).
