Please allow one silly question:
I see no option to access the PM section, just the send PM buttons on screen.
Is this my oversight ?

If you press PM button on someone else it sends them a PM from you.
If you want to see your PMs then go back to main forum page on the left side under the menu there is a PM box. It will probably say 'No New Messages'.
If you click on the 'No New Messages' link it takes you to your PMs.
