Do you have a serious crime problem, or do you work in bus lane enforcement/public office?
There doesn't seem to be too much of a problem At the moment), but a few weeks ago my daughter heard noises as though someone was trying doors and windows - we slep through it and then a few days ago we found out that a neighbour was broken into (home invasion style) and had property and a vehicle stolen
In the past a vehicle has been set fire to and we get occasional hoon drivers, not to mention the house that was broken in to seems to receive many more visitors than would be usual
Our cul de sac is considered the 'jewel in the crown' (fallacy) of an affluent suburb among a sea of less affluent suburbs
Our house is at the edge of the development, backing onto open fields
I think the dog is a good deterrent (though I worry about his safety), automatic lighting (which I plan to have installed) is another good deterrent and cameras might actually draw attention to us
I'd like to be able to view/record for peace of mind though, especially if I were to go away for a holiday leaving my 19yo daughter and her 17mth old at home.
It's also impossible for us to look outside at the front of our house without opening the door or installing a peephole, hence the desire to install some surveillance and finally get the long installed sensors working
