yep eric got it right its a slavonian grebe ,there are only a few hundred in the whole u.k mostly in the very far north of scotland .my lad got one a few years ago locally ,but this is the first time i have ever seen one .and on a huge lake hard to spot as there very very small.to get it on float past at around 20 feet or so was the real triumph of the day ,the winter sun was the icing on the cake
