I find that very interesting as the Nikon 80-400 costs a heap of money (~£1200) compared to the equivalent lenses from Tokina and Sigma. I have the Sigma version which was half the price of the Nikon lens and from my tests with the equivalent Nikon lens the Sigma is superior. I know that there is meant to very large variations in the quality of the Nikon version. I know that Ed Matusik has one and his version seems to be very good or as good as my Sigma. If Nikon upgrade the 80-400 f4.5-5.6 AF-D VR lens to VRii and AFS then I may be tempted to exchange my Sigma but in reality I dont need to as I have a very nice unit in the Sigma and if I need better quality then I use my Nikon 400mm f2.8 AFS which is absolutely brilliant.
