I would never allow Lr to ingest the actual files. What I HATE about Lr is the export procedure. I almost never do a batch export, the complexity of the export dialogue is ridiculous and way OTT. All I want is 'Save As' just like Photoshop. I like the keywording and organisation that Lr brings to the job so I stick with it. My answer to the export stupidity is a terrible fluff, simple and quick and foolproof. With the image I want to 'export' on screen I press 'Shift+Command+4' That gives ma a hairline cursor, I select the portion of the image I want and it appears on the desktop, I name it and use it. Done! For reasons I don't agree with, 'Shift+Command+4' normally produces a TIFF, I want JPEGS from my screenshots so I use this handy little utility to change that default from TIFF to JPEG. http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html This free utility allows many OSX default settings to be altered. I use it a lot, it's very handy to make the computer do what I want, the way I want it done.
