I am starting to understand the annoyance of G lenses and the fact that their lack of a manual aperture ring causes many problems. Whilst it works fine for the newest and latest and greatest cameras from Nikon if you want to use a G type lens on an older camera then it is a real pain. Also the fact that when Ai lenses were introduced that Nikon did not make kits for conversion of all old lenses to Ai. I was recently trying to get a Nikon 55mm f1.2 but while there are plenty of non-Ai versions around at reasonable prices the Ai versions are £410+ I eventually decided that I would go for a 50mm f1.4 AFN lens at a very good price. I can use this on all my Nikons and on my Fujis with the Kipon adapter.
