I'm going to try this AF Confirm T-2 T2 Telephoto Lens to Nikon F Mount Adapter, from eBay. Apparently it tells the camera that there is a lense mounted and set at f2.8 so that the aperture priority settings should work on anything mounted on the adaptor. There are various mount adaptors available from the same vendor as the link below to the one I ordered.
