http://petapixel.com/2013/11/27/nikon-stock-almost-24-year-date-worst-performer-nikkey/ This is pretty scary. I do think that Nikon as been tripping more than skipping for the last 2 years. No doubt that Nikon still makes the highest quality SLR cameras and lenses, but they seem to have wasted a lot of efforts in other markets. Since the Coolpix 5000, it seems to me that Canon, Sony, and lots of others have kicked their butts in the P&S bracket. In the mirrorless category, they seem completely adrift and hopeless. They seem to consistently be last to market with any new ideas... What will become of them? Hard to say. But they'd better do something. From where I sit, it's time to restructure and recalibrate. Either sit back like Leica and be a niche play in the very high end or clean out the whole design group and marketing departments in the other areas and get some young outrageous designers and marketers and start kicking butts again. This is the company that brought us the S series rangefinders, the NIKON F for god's sake!!!, the D1 ( an impossible project a full 3 years before anyone else)...on the low end, the coolpix 950, the coolpix 5000, the first EVF was in the coolpix line. I just pray the failures in the other areas don't kill the high end part of the company...
