Anytime anyplace browsing ?

I think the issue for me is the 'anyplace' browsing?

Ok, I guess I shouldn't have to ask this question but...

Will the mobile version of the iPad which has a sim card, G3, or the new supposed G4 versions act as a Wi-Fi hub or router?

I have heard the iPhone will but I haven't noticed any comment about the iPad in this respect.

Last year I bought a G3 mobile modem-router which will serve up to 5 devices.

My reason being that I often go camping and take trips away from home. Normally the modem-router sits in my case or on the table by my MBP.

Many times the mobile signal can be marginal, sometimes hanging the dongle in a window or even placing it on the roof of the car can boost the signal to a more usable level. I have no wish to have to stand by a window or sit on the roof of the car, just to be able to get a signal directly to an iPad.

I definitely won't be having both devices.

If I were to get an iPad I had planned to get a wi-fi only version, given that I already have a very capable modem-router, in fact it's faster and more reliable than my landline home connection!

I suppose if I were to replace my current wi-fi mobile modem-router with an iPad and when I can't get a signal directly I would use it in the same way as the device I have now.

Just seems a very expensive way of achieving what I already have via the Mobile modem-router and my MBP.
