Inverness is much more pleasant and the trip there by rail/car is full of wonderful scenery. If you are driving then you will miss some of the views as you need to concentrate on the driving (wrong side of the road and all that).
When you are in Glasgow you can take coach trips out to Glencoe. Fantastic photo opportunities snow, rain, wind or shine!!
