 In the develop module in the basic panel there is an 'auto' button which will set the exposure controls to what ACR thinks is a good fit - often you would disagree though.

I nearly always start in the camera calibration profile and set a profile (normally portrait or landscape). That does quite a bit, I then go back to the top and work from the top down.
