Hey guys

I'm Brett or theman1050 and I'm a journalism student at Stony Brook University in New York, USA. I have been shooting regularly on assignment for various newspapers and for my college's athletic department. I specialize in sports photography but am always trying new kinds, like landscapes, portraits and event photography.

My father and grandfather were both photographers so I have a lot of random photo equipment laying around that I like to try out. I love television and watch as much good tv as I can. I also enjoy playing video games and watching sports.

I don't know if we're posting our gear here (some forums do, some don't) but I'll put it out there so people can ask about how I like my gear.

Nikon D7000
35 1.8G DX
50 1.8D
70-300 VR

Cameras I've fooled around with:
Bronica 645-a medium format film camera I love to play with
Nikon D40
Nikon D70

Welcome Brett you certainly didnt pick an easy area to make your money in. Photojournalism is a tough business these days.

It is really tough. Things are promising (and being an hour from NYC doesn't hurt) but I'll likely end up in sports marketing or some kind of strategic communications job.

Hi Brett, it's nice to know a little about you, you must enjoy taking photo's and combining it with sport. I find it very rewarding capturing 'the moment' in sport. Although I have no real interest in sports myself I do find it exciting and a real challenge, I get totally immersed in a game and love to follow the spectacular players waiting to grab 'that shot'.
