Well folks I've arrived in our new home! A little late as I spent Easter camping in the bush away from all mobile reception - it was great!

Just took the X100 with me, and shot a couple of shots (which I'll post later) till the battery died. I really need to buy some spares!

Welcome Rich.
Glad to have you over here.
You need to have 2 spare batteries to cover a days shooting with the X100.

You're not kidding - I've been totally spoilt lately by both the D3s and the wife's D7000 (which I've been known to "Borrow".

The area of park we were in has a bad reputation for theft from cars even though it is out in the bush (and remote), so I went light for camera's.

I forgot to add a little something about myself:

I'm a Brit that came to Aus in 2004 and now call it home. Currently living in Melbourne but still think of Sydney as my true home and expect to go back there someday (hopefully not too many years away).

Trained as a Chemical Engineer at university but somehow moved into Logistics and now run the Distribution for Australia's largest speciality apparel retailer, previously doing the same in the Home Entertainment and Publishing industries.

I didn't believe I had an artistic bone in my body till I started taking photos - and it has now become my main passion. Unlike a lot who seem to prefer time behind the lens and minimising time at the computer, my true love is trying to take a good photo and turning it into something really special in photoshop. I believe I do most of my creative work in the computer, my composition and vision with the camera still need a lot of work.

I aspire to be close in ability to some of the folk here, but believe I need a few more years of practice and learning just to get half way there!

Just shot at sunset, makes a world of difference. I'm pasty and white in normal light!

On the rocks overlooking Bhewerre beach near Jervis bay, the shot in the gallery of the surfer taking off is from more or less the same spot going the other way. I tagged that with the location in Lightroom, so it might have come through on the Jpg?

It's a beautiful spot just next to our camp site.
