BPG v JPG image format  Rate Topic

There is a competitor to the old JPG standard image it is the newly developed BPG (Better Portable Graphic) format.
Basically this is a similar image format but offers up to 14bits rather than 8bits offered by JPG but due to the fact that it uses a newer compression algorithm it is a similar file size with less compression issues (jaggies).

It will probably be a while before this comes into software solutions as a supported format so it wont be an immediate replacement for JPG.
